Where do you start?

Now that you have an entire room to spread out your scrapbooks, organize the photos, and adore all of the supplies that you have collected over the years, where do you begin? How is all of this going to come together? Your mind is flooded with everything that had to be planned, the countless items that must be organized, not to mention the fact that it all has to work for you.

Well, you just start with the fabric. Don't forget that this room is your room. It's not just about the scrapbook you create in the end. This is your passion and your creativity, and the room you design in should be comfortable and stylish. Your scrapbook room needs to reflect as much of your personality as the journaling on your pages.

Let the fabric inspire you. Falling in love with a pattern will keep your room cohesive. Let the style of the fabric guide the style of your room. If a French Provencal pattern is what you love then you will gravitate towards formal furniture and curvy, gracious touches. If sleek lines and the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright catch your interest then you've probably picked a modern fabric.

The room design choices will leap from your fabric. The room's entire color palette can be taken from the fabric. Choose a couple coordinating designs from one line for variety while sticking with a central theme. So relax and grab a few swatches. The rest will flow easily.

I found the perfect marriage of scrapbooking and decorating. Amy Butler Design. Need I say more? The "Midwest modern" style of her papers won me over immediately. If you have ever held her Sola Daisy Chain embossed paper or the Belle Acanthus paper by K & Company then you know where the obsession is coming from. I haven't stopped hearing about Amy Butler since Creation Station received its first shipment.

When I found out that these great designs were available in fabric I knew the Dream Scrapbook Room would be inspired by Amy Butler Design. I have so many project ideas for the fabric. The room will need fabric totes to hold bulky items and also organize tools like clear acrylic stamps. I want cute pen holders on the desktop so my markers are on-hand and attractive. And I want a ribbon board to keep mementos close yet safe from bending or getting lost before they make it into my scrapbooks.

I can't wait until the fabric arrives. I'll post photos as soon as they arrive!

Show your stuff!

It's time to show us why you scrapbook! We all have our reasons. It may be the day ten little toes and a button-nose made you a Mommy, the furry friend who gets excited at your footstep, the vacation you will never forget, or when your sweetheart committed to loving only you forever. Maybe you want to be remembered, or maybe you are trying to not forget. Whichever reason inspires you to grab your cutting system and adhesives to create your albums, we want to know.

Creation Station is holding its first-ever scrapbook contest. In celebration of the Dream Scrapbook Room with The Parade of Homes, "Why I Scrapbook" is kicking off today to count down to the room's grand revealing on October 13th. An astounding 20 winners will be announced! All winners will be featured in a scrapbook album to be displayed in the Dream Scrapbook Room - not to mention the prizes!

Exciting news from Creation Station!

Creation Station has teamed with Parade of Homes to create a Dream Scrapbook Room in Stream Valley of Franklin.

We are thrilled to be involved, and we hope you will joins us on this adventure. Throughout phases of development, we will be asking for your opinions. Watch for polls so you can be involved in selecting fabrics and colors.

But we know what you really want to vote on! You'll have several chances to let your voice be heard on which scrapbook supplies will be displayed in the room. Whether it's your favorite cutting system or a jar of Prima flowers, your vote counts!

So mark your calendars for October when you will have your chance to tour the room with the 2007 Fall Parade of Homes to see the end result.
